Rich sporting history for Gibraltar among the Commonwealth Family
Gibraltar´s participation at the Games began back in Cardiff in 1958, when now President Charlie FLower competed in Athletics. Since those early days on track Gibraltar has been an ever present competing in a multitude of sports from Swimming to Boxing, Rowing to Shooting, Badminton, Triathlon, Cycling and Tennis, with Rhythmic Gymnastics set become the latest sport to grace the stage at the Games in Delhi 2010.
Over the years Gibraltar´s athletes have constantly preformed well and although no medals have been won, national records and personal bests have been achieved and bettered. The two best moments so far have seen athlete Johnny Chappory make the semi finals of the 800m in 1986, while Air Rifle Shooter Heloise Mañasco shot her way to the final last time out in Australia.
The Rock´s elite have now begun competing in the youth games which are now heading to their 4th edition in 2011.
